Despite trailing for almost all of the first three-quarters of the Super Bowl game, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs eventually defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 thanks to a late offensive push and a last-second field goal by Harrison Butker.
A significant Mahomes run served as the foundation for the game-winning field goal, and a contentious Eagles defensive holding call helped keep the drive going. The Chiefs were able to essentially run out the remaining two minutes of the game as a result.
After a shaky first half, Mahomes was outstanding in the second half, completing three touchdown passes.
Jalen Hurts, the Eagles’ quarterback, was impressive in his own right. He ran for three touchdowns and threw for 304 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown bomb to A.J. Brown.
His Eagles had a 10-point lead at the break, but they still came up short.
