Channing Tatum has revealed that he is working on a remake of Ghost.
Talking to Vanity Fair, the Magic Mike star said he had already bought the rights to remake the classic romance film which starred Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg.
While Tatum is expected to play Swayze’s role, he teased that his remake would look to be different to the original: “But we’re going to do something different. I think it needs to change a little bit.”
Ghost was originally released in 1990 and became the highest grossing film of that year. It earned five Oscar nominations, winning Best Supporting Actress for Whoopi Goldberg and Best Original Screenplay for Bruce Joel Rubin.

Tatum is set to star in sequel Magic Mike’s Last Dance as the eponymous stripper. It is the third film in the series and expected to conclude as a trilogy.
Salma Hayek also stars in the film while it has not been confirmed if actors from the first two films including Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash and Matt Bomer will return.
The first Magic Mike film was released in 2012 and was an unexpected commercial and critical success with the story being losely based on Tatum’s own experiences as a stripper.
A sequel followed in 2015 but without original cast members Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer and Cody Horn.

Tatum has been quiet in recent years until he re-emerged in 2022 with his directorial debut Dog in which he also starred and action film The Lost City which also featured Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt and Daniel Radcliffe.
Other upcoming projects for Tatum include Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut Pussy Island and space race period drama Project Artemis which also features Scarlett Johansson and Ray Romano.
